ZeBud is a multi-user program that is a tool to develop
the budget for an organization with participation from department
heads and managers with appropriate data and process controls
reserved for the Budget Manager. ZeBud allows the organization
to collect, organize, document, tabulate and report on the
details of budget requests so the budget requests can be
reviewed, negotiated, and managed for approval.
Instead of using spreadsheets to accumulate budget input
from department heads and managers, ZeBud uses a database
complete with generous space for notes to document each
budget item, producing a "zero-based" budget.
Our approach for your users is to "fill in the blanks,"
not re-invent the budget with each cycle. Instant tabulation
of input and elimination of error-prone spreadsheet combination
or macros simplifies the budget process and makes it more
efficient.
ZeBud is also a software tool that provides monthly measurement
of the budget status with a series of reports measuring
the actual financial results against the budget as well
as prior actual results. If your current general ledger
software or other systems provide acceptable budget variance
reports, you can of course elect to not use this feature
of the program. The monthly actual financial data is imported
into ZeBud from an Excel spreadsheet in a simple trial-balance
format. If your systems can export simple trial balance
data to an Excel spreadsheet, then the actual financial
data can be imported into ZeBud by menu option.
ZeBud is an Access program. The data files are standard
Access files and can be linked with any custom application
you may wish to develop or currently use. Reports from ZeBud
can be exported to a rich text file, which you may elect
to use for portions of a finished budget document. You may
find many of the reports acceptable for direct inclusion
into your finished budget document. This type of program
with open, commonly used file structures assure your organization
of maximum future flexibility without being committed to
a proprietary system. The programs are all by-products of
the Microsoft Office family of familiar office suite products.
No particular knowledge of Access is required to operate
ZeBud. It is completely menu driven. It comes with the runtime
version of the program so that your users are not required
to have the Access program on their desktop. ZeBud requires
either Windows XP/2000/98/NT/ME. Data files reside safely
on your server, not on somebody else’s server, on the
web. You control the data.
